  Bringing Literacy to Rural Nepal
How You Can Help

Books in Nepal cost less than candy bars in the U.S. But for people who live on less than $1 a day, books are still an unaffordable luxury.

Books in Every Home is run by volunteers. Every dollar (or pound, yen, Euro and rupee) goes directly to purchase books in Nepal, circulate books in villages, and run activities that engage rural people in reading and writing. The publicity we've received has meant that a lot of new communities have been asking to participate. At this time, Nepali readers need support!

Adopt a District

One rewarding way to participate is to help new reader's groups get together the library of books they need. This can be a wonderful way for school groups or individuals to make a difference. Districts in particular need of support right now are the remote hill districts of Gulmi and Arghakhanchi; Kailali, in the far west; and Morang and Jhapa, in the far east. Write us to learn more.

If You're in Nepal

In Nepal, donations of books, financial support, and time and energy are particularly welcome. Please contact us, and we'll get you in touch with the appropriate volunteer.

If you'd like to learn more or get involved in other ways, please feel free to write us.

Donations can be made out to Books in Every Home and sent to:
